“My son Steve came into my office one day. Usually, when I am in the office with the door closed, it means that others are to remain outside the door. This time Steve just barged in. He sat down quietly, and I asked him what he wanted.
He told me that he did not want anything. He said, ‘I just want to be with you.’
‘You just want to be with me!’ I said. ‘You don’t want five dollars?’
‘No.’
‘You don’t want to see if you can go out tonight?’
‘No.’
‘You don’t want help with your homework?’
‘No, I just came to be with you.’
How often do we do that with God? So many of us barge into His presence and share with Him our shopping list of prayer requests and then get up and leave. We fail to sit and just enjoy Him.”
